School’s out and Smart Beauty has lots of colours for you, so go and experiment before heading back into the routine. Pink or blue?  Bright or pastel?  Dip-dye or full head?  The choice is yours but there’s a different method to each. Here’s your guide to the options.

Hair colour sprayDo you want a Temporary colour change? With this you can simply spray on and wash off – job done! Have a look at our colours here: Smart Beauty Colour hair sprays If you want your cool colour to last a bit longer, we also offer Semi-Permanent hair dye. Our Smart Beauty Pastel Hair colours – including delicious Candy Floss and gorgeous Lilac Haze – are all Semi-Permanent dyes. Smart Pastel Candy Floss Hair ColourTo use these products you will first need to lighten your hair or the colour won’t show up. You can use our Smart Bleach-it Hair Lightener for this. Semi-permanent colours will fade within 3-4 washes, but if you love your new look you can just top the colour up to keep it fresh for as long as you want! If you’re feeling more radical and want to change your colour for even longer, have a look at our Smart Beauty Permanent Hair colour range online pure purple hair colouror in stores. This is where you will find our Ombre & Dip Dyes. These are a bit more complicated. You will need to mix up the colour first. You will also need to bleach wash your hair before putting the colour on.

What if you change your mind? Even our Permanent colours can be gently and gradually removed over time using a clarifying shampoo. This will remove the surface dyes, although the result will depend on the condition of your hair. You may have to bleach bath your hair to remove the remaining colour – help is at hand with our Smart Beauty Total Blonde, which is ammonia-free.

Be aware of the condition of your hair:

  • If it’s your first time ever, the colour may not grip as well as with hair that is more used to being dyed.
  • If you know you have dry hair, the colour might fade more quickly. Just leave the hair dye in for longer in the development stage, and it will be all worth it.
  • Finer hair lightens faster and generally requires more gentle Semi-Permanent products.
  • Thicker hair is more colour-resistant but can handle more powerful chemicals. Bold, bright colour will of course take longer to develop.

Before you get going: Allergies: Some people can have allergic reactions to cosmetics and dyes so always do a pre-test by putting a bit of the product on your skin. Please read our advice on the pack and online.
